GOSH im sorry for my random absences lately but im going to try really hard to keep coming on more frequently as long as im not sick or at a friends house.
I wanted to share something that is AMAZING with you all though (its kinda long so if you want a shorter story ill put a short one at the end)
So if you didn't already know, Im a preschool teacher at a locally own daycare. YES its called a daycare but we do preschool curriculum and make them kindergarten ready SO that makes us a preschool.
ANYWAYS At the center I usually draw the kids pictures to color. This is mostly because it cost my boss a ton of money to print copies so i try not to use coloring pages and the copier. Plus my mom doesnt want me using hers.
Well every once in a while, when i feel extra artsy, ill take out my mini sketchbook and doodle. Usually its after i've done chores and theres only 4 kids left at the center. Well a few times i've done guessing games with them and whoever guesses gets a picture.
One day, around last week, one little girl was the last kid for the last 30minutes and i drew her a cat. On monday she asked me to draw her another picture right when she was leaving, in the middle of the day and i told her she would get 2 drawings the next day, which i wasn't there because i took the day off to go to the board meeting at my moms work for class.
This little 3yr old girl, first thing she asked when i came in wednesday was "did you draw my 2 pictures" sadly i didnt draw anything for her, so i told her i would when we had less kids.
She was the last kid again and i drew her 2 pictures, a cat and dog. They were NOT my best work AT ALL mind you, just doodles.
Well mom approtched me and said "Did you trace these?" and of course my reply was, "No i drew them. Im an artist"
She then asked me questions on what I would like to do with my art and if I would consider being an illistrator. And i was honest with her. I told her that i would love to but i have no idea how to implement my art in that way just yet, and that i would need to take classes.
She proceeds to tell me she is the CEO of a womens entrepreneur center with an illustration class and she could get me hooked up with classes and possibly become a children books illustrator! Next time she picks up her daughter shes giving me her card so i can email her my information! she told me i have potential to becoming a good illustrator too!
Only down side would be i would need a job that allowed me to work in the mornings because the classes are in the afternoon.
BUT im considering quitting my job soon, like in a month or so hopefully ill be all hooked up with the illustration courses
yeah it might be akward at first having to see her mom when i quiet considering im quitting being her daughters teacher
but hey she might pay me to be her daughters babysitter instead of her going to the school! I mean the classes are probably once in a while not every day of the week, meaning i could probably schedule my classes around her schedule and BOOM i have a job AND i could possibly be a legit illustrator! I would honestly love that
BUT i never know what could happen, all i know is im done with my current job and im moving forward, and my future contains more art and probably less kids. I still want to work with kids, but i really do want to work with babies!
I drew a doodle of a cat and dog for one of my preschoolers and her mom is CEO of this big company that has illustration classes and shes getting me hooked up with the classes and i could be an illustrator!
Im excited to see what this will bring me
